Cats are weird...

We have three cats in the family. Stormy-the oldest and crankiest, Sophie-my beautiful Calico, and our youngest cat Shorty-less than a year old, slightly mentally challenged. Shorty lives outside because we could never litter box train him. He would poop anywhere...the litter box, the couch, the living room floor. So we had to move him outside.

We noticed today that Shorty has not been "doing his business" in the yard (or my flower bed) like he usually does. Apparently he doesn't like to squat in the icy grass. Instead, he's been pooping in our driveway and on our porch...on the ice covered concrete.

Someone explain this cat to me...please?

Who can presume to explain a beloved cat? My guess though is that he is announcing to the neighborhood that he is the dominant cat in this area therefore he does not need to cover and is thus informing other cats nearby that he is the "man"

Maybe you could put a covered litter box outside?
I would hate to slip and go down onto a pile of brown frosting. Uck!

*sigh* who knows? No one can explain a cat. Laoch has the most likely..LOL Poor little thing. For some reason, "touched" animals just seem tooo pathetic!

I agree with Laoch-
You really can't control them- but offer them a happier place to potty.

I don't remember ever having to really train my cats to go in the litter box.
Maybe that's a brain fart-
but I do find nuggets here and there when i've slacked off litter duty

Well my love of cats is limited as you know but this one looks cute. Did I really say that?

And thank you for checking on me at this time. Yes I am just fine and back to blogging again after a short intermission.

Love and hugs my friend

Explain cats? Ha! You'd be better off trying to explain the current economic condition (and probably be better accurate in doing it). Of course, I have to admit I don't think I'd like squatting in icy grass either.
